Marine Notes

Quite a large fleet of grain vessels arrived in the harbour since Saturday last, and this has made things look lively.

Montreal Transportation Co. - Arrived - M. Fullmore, Chicago, 18,388 bush. wheat; G.C. Channon, Chicago, 19,138 bush. corn; G.B. Sloan, 18,500 bush. wheat; Westside, Chicago, 18,000 bush. wheat; W.I. Preston, Chicago, 15,723 bush. wheat; Cossack, Chicago, 19,150 bush. corn; C.A. King, Chicago, 20,143 bush. wheat; Mary Copley, Chicago, 18,601 bush. wheat. Cleared in tow of Elfin - barges Duluth, 18,500 bush. corn; Oswego, 22,757 bush. corn; Glengarry, 8,500 bush. peas and 7,650 bush. corn; Wheatbin, 18,000 bush. wheat.

James Swift - The steamers Spartan, Algerian and Scotia passed up, and the City of New York, Persia and Canada passed down. The D.C. West arrived from Westport.

The ship Garden Island left on Saturday night, and a telegram from Cornwall this morning announces her safe arrival there.

Collinsby, May 12th - Arrivals - Mary Battle, from Wheatley; H. Dudley from Toledo.

May 14th - Arrivals - Ayr, Cecelia, from Morrisburg; S. Neelon and Gulnair, with timber, for the Collinsby Rafting Co.

Detroit, May 14th - A Port Huron telegram this morning reports the condition of the ice in Lake Huron as unchanged.

Port Colborne, May 12th - Up - schrs. Mary Grover, Toronto, Cleveland, light; Antelope, Port Dalhousie, Bay City, do.; Wacousta, Welland, Cleveland, do.; props. Milwaukee, Ogdensburg, Chicago, gen. cargo; Maine, Ogdensburg, Chicago, do.; Europe, St. Catharines, Kincardine, do.; Shickluna, Toronto, Chicago, do.; Ocean, St. Catharines, Toledo, light; Africa, Kingston, Toledo, light.

Down - Schrs. Dundee, Black River, Toronto; Ella Murton, Black River, Hamilton, coal; prop. Canada, Toledo, Montreal, gen. cargo.

In Harbour - schrs. Wacousta, and N.Y. Emery.
