Presentation To Capt. Simmonds - On Monday afternoon the Ottawa gentlemen who subscribed to the testimonial to Capt. Simmonds, of the steamer Queen, met in the Temperance Hall, Rideau street, and made the presentation. The gift consisted of a very handsome gold medal, bearing the inscription, "Presented by Loyalists of Ottawa to Capt. Thos. Simmonds, for his patriotism in maintaining the honour of the British flag, on board the steamer Queen Victoria, 2nd July, 1877," and on the reverse side the Union Jack. This was accompanied by an elegant purse of purple silk mounted in gold, and containing $500 and a gold pencil case and set of ivory tablets. An address was read to Capt. Simmonds, who made a suitable reply.
