p.3 Kingston Yacht Club - A meeting was held in the Council Chamber for the purpose of starting a yacht club in Kingston, and promoting the interests of that manly amusement here. The magnificent harbour which we possess is unsurpassed on the continent for sailing, as it is sufficiently protected to be safe, and at the same time always affords a good breeze from Lake Ontario. Yet Brockville and Belleville have hitherto been ahead of us in this respect, having possessed clubs of considerable importance. Mr. Wilson was made Secretary pro tem, and Mr. Oldrieve and Capt. Allen were appointed a committee to canvass the city for membership, it being decided that if 25 were found to join, a meeting would be held and an organization started. We hope to see the movement a success, as it is a pity to see our advantages in this respect unimproved.

The Sailing Course - On Dominion Day the second class yachts are to go from the starting buoy off Swift's Wharf to a buoy off Garden Island, then back to starting buoy, then to buoy off George's barn and back to starting buoy, thence to buoy off Simcoe Island and back to starting buoy, return to Simcoe buoy and home to starting buoy. About 28 miles. The third class course is to each of the three buoys and back in succession. All buoys are to be rounded in the starboard tack.
