p.3 Grain Freights - We are informed that the Montreal Transporation Company is about to issue a circular announcing that freights between Kingston and Montreal will be reduced to 2 1/4 cents on corn and 2 1/2 cents on wheat. The fact that rates on corn between Chicago and New York are only 6 1/2 cents per bushel renders the above reduction absolutly necessary.

New Steamer - The Despatch correspondent at Cape Vincent says: "Work is progressing on the new steamer now in process of construction at Buckley's mill-yard by Messrs. George Chaffey & Bro., of Kingston. She will be about the size of the Geneva, and will have two propeller wheels. She is intended for service on the Ohio river, and consequently will be of very light draught. Messrs. Chaffey intend to deliver her on the Ohio some time during the month of September."

Customs' Impports - June 27th - str. J.F. Dayan, Sackett's Harbour, P.W. Westcott, 31 crates,

Prop. Lawrence, Ogdensburg, James Swift, 1 box.

Schr. Trinidad, Chicago, Montreal Transportation Co., 19,200 bush. corn.
