Channel Grove - Saturday evening, Aug. 3rd, on str. Maud - details.

p.3 Launch - A handsome new schooner the Singapore, will be launched at the Shipyard on Thursday afternoon. The vessel will be cut away about five o'clock. The citizens are invited to be present on the occasion, so as to witness a very pretty sight.

Mr. John Devana, grocer of Kingston, has failed. His troubles originated about a year ago, by a barge he owned breaking one of the canal locks, which put him to considerable expense. Liabilities about $4,000. [Monetary Times]

The Geneva Ahead - A despatch from Cape Vincent to the Watertown Despatch says: "The steamers Geneva and Island Belle met at the foot of Wolfe Island on Thursday p.m., and had a race to the foot of Carleton Island, six miles, in which the Geneva won by nearly a quarter of a mile. They are both smart boats, but it is generally admitted that the Geneva can make the best time of any boat excepting the Admiral on the St. Lawrence River."
