p.1 City Council - Steam Whistles - Ald. Thompson introduced a by-law, which received a first reading, to put a stop to the hideous whistling which is frequently heard at night in the harbour.

p.2 Creighton's Ramble No. 5 - will take place to the Camp Ground and Brockville on Monday, Sept. 9th, by steamer Maud. The steamer will leave Folger & Hanley's wharf at 7 a.m. Tickets 50 cents. Aug. 27th

p.3 Steam Whistles - An attempt is about to be made to put a stop to the hideous noises denominated whistles which are made by certain steamers in the harbour in the middle of the night. Ald. Thompson introduced a by-law at the City Council meeting last night for the purpose of declaring such whistles a nuisance, and there is no doubt but that it will pass unanimously. We understand that there is no intention to put a stop to the whistling when out from the docks, but the long screams with which the Oswego Belle calls back her hands must be stopped. We are informed that on a recent occasion the wheelsman of one steamer fell asleep while blowing the whistle, and he allowed it to scream for half an hour without intermission. The by-law is intended to put a stop to this sort of thing, which the City Solicitor is of opinion can be done. So far as whistling for opening the bridge is concerned, we are informed that this is entirely unnecessary, as there is a man on duty there constantly.

The Sarah Daly - We understand that this dredge, now working in Picton harbour, has become a Canadian vessel, the necessary papers having been made out today for that purpose.
