p.3 Richelieu & Ontario Navigation Company - The annual meeting of this company was held on Monday. Sir Hugh Allan President of the Company, occupied the chair, and a large number of shareholders were present. The financial statement shows the net profits of the year to have been $112,542.20 from which dividends amounting to 5 1/2 per cent have been declared, and the amount now credit of profit and loss account is $40,772.80. The total assets are put down at $1,625,724, and liabilities at $39,000; capital $1,565,000; surplus, $21,704, which is exclusive of the amount at credit of profit and loss as above. After the reading and adoption of the report a resolution was passed authorizing the directors to purchase the fractional shares which are now in existence. [Star]
