p.2 No less than three of the Lake steamers have, within a few days, broken a shaft apiece; namely the Ontario, the St. George, and Gore. One of the engines of the Ontario has been materially injured by this unfortunate accident. Her cast-iron shafts will be forthwith replaced by wrought-iron ones. We understand that the Hon. John Hamilton considers the Niagara Dock Company responsible for the damage sustained by the Ontario while the Dock Company consider themselves not liable. It is to be hoped this difference of opinion may be reconciled without a law suit. [Niagara Chronicle]
