Albert F. Smith, Esq., Chief Engineer, Oswego Fire Department, Oswego, N.Y.

Dear Sir, - Enclosed, please find a check of One Hundred ($100,) which amount I beg to present, on behalf of this company, to the several Fire Companies under your command. As a slight remuneration for their valuable aid, rendered us on Thursday night, July 26th, in saving the Propeller "Prairie State" from being destroyed by fire at this place.

Having paid Engine Co. No. 1 $50, as per bill rendered, for services that night, the amount now enclosed I will thank you to distribute as you deem best among them. With many thanks to yourself, and all connected with the department, I remain, Yours truly, Geo. A. Eddy, Agent Northern Transportation Co.

This letter speaks for itself, and nobly done, as might have been expected.
