Milwaukee Wis., Jan. 14. - Shipyard work at this point has been only moderate in amount thus far the present winter. Calkers have plenty to do, and will be busily engaged until well along toward spring, but no very large force of ship carpenters will be required at any time. New work has been confined to the construction of two new tugs, one for Martin Golden of Menominee, Mich., which was launched recently, the other for C. H. Starke & Co., dredging and dock contractors. The MARTIN GOLDEN, as she has been named, will receive the boiler and engine of the tug DENNIS BROTHERS, a craft that at one time served as a ferry steamer at Port Huron. The engine is a 20 square, while the hull has an over all length of 76 feet, 16 feet beam and 9 feet hold. The tug for C. H. Starke & Co., is 82 feet long, with 17 + feet beam and 10 + feet hold. She will have a 20 x 24 engine of Sheriffs' manufacture, and a boiler 7 + feet in diameter by 14 feet long. In the hull steel shelf pieces are introduced, also steel deck beams and steel carlins in the vicinity of the boiler.
