LAUNCH. - On Saturday forenoon at 11:30, the first launch of the season at Shickluna's yard took place. The barque ELGIN, to be commanded by Capt. Dalton of Port Stanley, built for Shepard and Arkell of Port Stanley.

The Elgin was wrecked, seized for salvage charges, and sold American in 1886. The buyer was J.S. Dunham of Chicago, who renamed her Oakland and immediately sold her. However, she was registered as Elgin (US135898), and enrolled at Chicago under that name in 1886, 1892, 1892, and 1904. In other words, she never sailed as Oakland
