A touch at the ridiculous.--The last [Buffalo] Journal contains a glowing picture of the present enlivened state of that village. "So many strangers"--"aspiring industry"--"hum and bustle of business"--"real estate enhanced in value"--"great chances for speculation"--and other hollow trash, calculated to deceive the foolish, as well as to make men of sense laugh when the motive and the truth are really known. A while ago the Journal told us--"our wharves have assumed the air of commercial bustle;" when at the same time, the usual dullness and stupor of commerce prevailed at that point.-- As an evidence of this, we can state that the owners and masters of vessels lying in Buffalo creek, have in almost every instance, resorted to this place for loading, stating at the same time that there was not a pound of freight in the whole village of Buffalo. This hum and bustle is transferred principally from Black Rock, as appears by the fact, that the Journal printer (as has always been his custom) meanly places our shipping list under the head of Buffalo arrivals and clearances. As contemptible as we consider such conduct, we have no disposition to disturb his bustling, or to deny him his usual qualificaitons, purchased at the expense of truth.
