NORTH AMERICAN - Steel cruise passenger steamer (U.S.211076) built in 1913 at Ecorse, MI by Great Lakes Engineering Works (Hull #1 07) for Chicago, Duluth & Georgian Bay Transit Company: 259 x 47.1 x 18.3; 2,317 gross tons. Powered by a 2,200 ihp quadruple expansion steam engine. Sold to SIU in 1967, for use as a floating barracks. Foundered off Nantucket Island, Massachusetts on September 15, 1967, while under tow to Chesapeake Bay.
