The tug which was built for the Erie Tug Co. of Erie by the Union Drydock Co. of this city was launched yesterday afternoon at the drydock on Ganson St. The tug is 85 ft. long 24 ft. beam and 11 1/2 ft. hold. She has a compound engine with a 28 inch stroke. Her principal owner, it is said, is William H. Hill of the Erie Tug Co. She has been named the AMERICA. She will be a valuable addition to the tug fleet of Erie, whither she will be taken so soon as the finishing touches are put upon her by her builders.
