North Tonawanda, April 16 - The stms. AVON and W.H. STEVENS of the Union Transit Co. are undergoing repairs to machinery and boilers here. Owing to the strike of boiler makers and iron ship builders at Buffalo the vessels were forced to come here to have the work done. John Mahar, proprietor of the Mahar Engine & Boiler Works of Tonawanda, has the contract for the work which will amount to about $6,000.
