The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
John R. Fero (Steam yacht), 21 Jul 1876

Description
Full Text

An important trial of speed between the State tug A.P. LANSING and the stmy JOHN R. FERO, took place on Black Rock harbor Wednesday evening. The distance gone over was about 3/4 of a mile, and the yacht beat her opponent by a length. The State tug is considered very fast, and the victory of the yacht is something her owners may well feel proud over.
