The stm. GLADSTONE, named in honor of England's statesman and launched at Cleveland on Saturday (4/28), 283 ft. in keel, 305 ft. over all, 41 ft. beam, 24 ft. in hold. She has a Hodge triple expansion engine, 21 1/2, 32 and 52 by 43 inches, and 2 steel boilers, each 13 by 11 ft. The screw is 13 ft. in diameter. She is owned by M.A. Bradley and others, cost $130,000 and is to carry 2,500 tons. Capt. Henry Stone will command her.
