THE GOLDEN GATE. - This beautiful steamer, built by Messrs. Bidwell, Banta Co., has just been completed for Messrs. Fox & Bruce, and the following is her dimensions: - Length of keel 225 feet; breadth of beam 29 feet 6 inches; depth of hold 12 feet 6 inches, and is 860 tons burthen.
She is a beautiful model, built more for business purposes than speed. She is propelled by an engine from the Cuyahoga Iron Works, and on a late trial trip made 13 milea an hour at 18 revolutions. She is fitted up with an upper cabin of modern style extending the length of her deck, and affording good accommodations for a large number of passengers.
She is to be commanded by Captain B. F. Davison. We understand that she was this morning chartered by the Southern Michigan Railroad Company, to run between Milwaukee and Chicago, on Lake Michigan in connection with their road. The EMPIRE or BALTIC will be the other boat forming this line, which of the two, however, it has not yet been decided.
