NEW TUGS. - Two new tugs, the GOVERNOR and HIPPODAME have just been completed, and on Saturday afternoon both were out and engaged in a friendly trial of speed up the lake as far as Point Abino. The GOVERNOR is built by and for Mr. John Kelderhouse, the engine and machinery being furnished by the Vulcan Works. The HIPPODAME is built by Van Slyck & Notter for the Western Transportation Company. The two are almost exactly of a size and alike in nearly every respect, being of great power and of the best and strongest build. Both are to leave this week for New York via the St. Lawrence, to be employed in the towing service on the Hudson River. The GOVERNOR may possibly be transferred to the service of the Government, for whose purpose it is well suited.
