Lorelei (Steam yacht), U15997, 12 May 1883
- Full Text
We understand that our friends of the Oakfield Club are getting ready in anticipation of the coming warm weather. Their elegant yacht LORELEI was partially rebuilt last season at an expense of $1,500. Some improvements have been made in her machinery this year and she has been put in perfect order for immediate use. A visit to the grounds shows that the new pier put down last season have preserved the sea wall from the severe winter, and the house and grounds are being put in complete order. By a change in the constitution of the club, members are allowed to dispose of a divided share, and it is expected the membership will be increased to 80, the limit, thus reducing largely the expense to each. There seems now to be a good chance for those desirous of this kind of recreation. The reunion, we learn, will be held later this year than formerly.
