NOTE:- The RICHARD MARTINI, a sailing vesel was rebuilt as a propeller, but her name was not changed, being still registered under that name in the Merchant Vessel List of the U. S. A. for 1889

East Saginaw.---The steambarge RICHARD MARTINI, owned and commanded by Captain F.L. Hunt, of this city, made her maiden trip to this city as such yesterday, arriving in the afternoon with iron for Morley Bros. and oil for McCausland & Company. She discharged 305 tons of coal at Bay City. The MARTINI was originally a barge and came out in 1877. Last fall Mr. Hunt took her to Lorain, Ohio, where he transformed her into a steam craft at an outlay of $7,000. She is 150 feet over all, 28 feet beam and 9 feet depth of hold. She has the machinery of the old tug STANDARD, which some vessel men claimed would not be powerful enough to propel her, but it has proved a success, as she made the run from Cleveland to Bay City in forty-four hours and can make seven miles an hour without crowding. Unlike other boats, her boiler is on deck. Her cabin is large and well arranged for the accommodation of the crew.
