On Thursday the new tug MINNIE MERTON owned by Capt. Frank B. Hackett of Malden, made her first appearance at Detroit. Her dimensions are as follows: Length, 60 ft.; beam 12 ft.; hold, 8 ft.; tonnage 20 tons; engine 40 H.P. She will be kept at Malden, with several lighters, and all the necessary material for wrecking, and being of light draft, can often be used to greater advantage than larger and more powerful tugs.
