The fine new stmb. MIDDLESEX, owned and built in Detroit, and which came out last fall has just completed what is said to be the fastest trip on record between Bay City and Tonawanda. She left Tonawanda Saturday week, the 21st. ult., at 4:00 P.M., with her consort, the barge MELBORNE, in tow; reached Bay City, both vessels taking on cargoes aggregating 1,800,000 ft. of lumber, and arrived back at Tonawanda the following Sunday morning at 8:00, just one week and 16 hours from the time she left there.
