Nile (Propeller), 22 Apr 1853
Description
- Full Text
Capt. Frank Perew's elegant new propeller, the NILE, says the Cleveland Herald, was hauled down the river yesterday, and is loading with flour for Buffalo. She was built last fall by Moses & Quayle, of Ohio City, and is of exquisite model and finish. Her cabins are superior to those of any other propeller we ever visited; being as finely decorated in point of furniture, mirrors, gilding, in fact in every particular but size, as any 'floating palace on the lake. She is 650 tons burthen, and is a perfect beauty throughout.
Capt. Marsden's new propeller, the MILWAUKEE, will be out in three weeks, and will run in the Buffalo and Chicago trade. She was built by the same parties, and, we are informed, is about the same capacity, and was modelled after the NILE.
