North America (Steamboat), 8 May 1843

Description
Full Text

The NORTH AMERICA is coming out under Capt. Edmonds, while the COLUMBUS is transfered to Capt. H. Whitaker. During the winter the C. has been overhauled and fitted out anew. Besides the attention given to machinery, always the most important consideration, a new upper cabin, 40 ft. long, has been built, with 14 state rooms and a Ladies' saloon 12 by 20 ft., all trimmed with much taste. There is also a forward saloon 20 ft. long, together with a spacious steerage cabin giving the COLUMBUS ample space and space and accommodations for any class of travelers. - Buff. Adv.
