STEAM BOAT OHIO - This boat left our harbor on Monday morning last for Buffalo. She is of the smaller class of boats, but we have seen no boat of the same tonnage with equal provisions for comfort and accommodation. her engine is of new construction on these waters, having two vibrating cylinders, and their pistons attached to the shaft at right angles; the whole engine exclosure of the boilers occupy a space of only 6 feet square. her cabin are on the main deck, above which a hurricane deck extends the whole length of the boat, and she stows about 600 barrels in her hold.

The new steam-boat OHIO, recently built at Lower Sandusky, in the state whose name she bears, came into this port on Wednesday last. She is a staunch boat, of one hundred and fifty seven tons burden, constructed after the plan of the Ohio River boats, with cabins upon deck, leaving all below for boilers, engine, wood and freight. Her engine is of a construction previously unknown in these lakes, though the plan has been adopted elsewhere. It is upon the high pressure principle, has two vibrating cylinders supplied by the same steam pipe and the head of each piston rod is attached directly to a crank on the shaft of the water wheels. The boat will be ready for the lake in about ten days, and is designed to ply regularly, with freight and passengers, between Buffalo and Lower Sandusky, touching at all intermediate ports.
