The preparations for the coming excursion season down the river and across the lake are nearly completed. Indication point to largely increased business, and some competition for the river patronage from an outside boat. But there is room for all and an additional first-class steamer would be welcome here. The PERIWINKLE of the Lake Erie Excursion Co., has been thoroughly refitted. Her hull and machinery has been overhauled and put in the best possible condition. The first trip will be made Saturday May 21st, by Capt. A.B. Drake. A careful pilot will be in command. The officers of the company say a number of dates have already been booked and should business warrant another steamer will be put on the line. She will leave the foot of Main St. at 2:30 P.M.
The stm. WATERTOWN commenced making regular trips between the foot of Ferry St. and Fort Erie village this morning. The hours of running will be from 6 A.M. to 8 P.M. until June 30, when the last trip will be made at 10 P.M.
The stm. NIAGARA, which has been put on the river all winter will resume her regular trips from the foot of Main St. to old Fort Erie Grove in about 10 days. The railway from the village to the old fort is being pushed as rapidly as possible, and will be in first-class running order by the 1st of June. This will be a very popular route for residents of Black Rock.
