A NEW CONNECTION. - The schooner JOHN RAE sailed from Hamilton, Canada West for this port on the 1st. inst. This vessel is chartered by W.J. Gilbert, of No.16, LaSalle Street, and will sail with a cargo direct from Chicago to St. John's, New Brunswick, and will bring a return cargo direct from the province to this city. This will be the first direct communication with St. John's. The JOHN RAE will carry 12,000 bushels of corn, and is chartered at 25 cents per bushel for outward and homeward cargo. - Chicago Tribune
