The schr. ELLA STEPHENS (by some called the BELLE STEPHENS) is to be rebuilt and converted into a tow barge at Ballentine & Co's yard. This craft was wrecked at Skillagalee in 1873, and was brought here for the government at an expense of over $700, and finally when Uncle Sam decided to sell her at auction they bid her in for $50.
