The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
Sweepstakes (Propeller), 15 Jul 1867

Description
Full Text

The new tug SWEEPSTAKES passed up a day or 2 since with the large bark DAVID STEWART , bound for Escanaba. She brought this vessel from Cleveland and takes her direct through to her destination and returns with her to Erie with a full cargo on board. This it is conceded, is a tow of the longest distance ever recorded on the lakes, but nevertheless remunerative to all concerned.
