The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
St. Clair (Canal Boat), 1 Aug 1842

Description
Full Text

Canal boat building still flourishes here, and is growing into importance daily. All the materials for carrying on this branch of business are here obtained as plentifully and in as good a quality as at any other point upon the canal, and we are pleased to learn it will in a short period be the means of sustaining a large number of mechanics, the year round. During this week another fine boat called the St.CLAIR will be launched from Van Slykes yard on Mechanic Street, and added to hubbard's Line.
