Sandusky, May 16. - Schooner St. LOUIS - This is the name of a fine schooner of 170 tons which was launched here on Wednesday last in handsome style, with her masts up and colors flying. It is considered one of the best schooners on the lake, and is to be commanded by Captain Vorce. - Clarion.

The St. LOUIS. - We take pleasure in noiticing the arrival of this beautiful schooner. She [fold in paper] Sandusky, Ohio, by Capt. Aug. Jones, under the direction of Capt. Vorce, her commander, for Messrs. Brawater, Smith & Co. of Detroit, Pratt, Taylor & Co. of this city and Capt. Vorce. She measures 89 feet in length on deck, 24 1/2 in width, 8 1/2 in hold, and is calculated to stow 1200 barrels.
Those who are admirers of ship architecture, will find a gratification in examining the St. LOUIS. She takes her station immediately in the "Eagle Line" of Chicago Packets, as will be seen by her advertisement in our paper.

Chicago Packets.-We have too long neglected to point publick attention to this Line of Packets designed to ply regularly (once in ten days,) between this Port and Chicago. The energetick proprietors, Messrs. Pratt, Taylor & Co., have recently added to the line the new and well found Schooner St. LOUIS, and the Brig QUEEN CHARLOTTE, referred to in another article in this paper. The employment of such a fleet in the ordinary transportation on a route, which but a few years since had only been explored by the bark canoe of the savage, or the but little more civilized fur -trader, speaks volumes for the present growth and future prospects of the "great west." The flood tide of emigration and the rush of business this season, tasks to the utmost the activity and recources of our freighters, to keep pace with the exigencies of the publik
