The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
Uncle Sam (Schooner), 1 Jul 1844

Description
Full Text

The MIlwaukee ship builders are gaining much credit by the very workmanlike manner in which they are turning out vessels. The new schooner CHAMPION, now in port, is a fair specimen of their handiwork, and is said to be a good sailor. She is of the largest class, too, 205 tons.
Another new schooner of the same size, called the UNCLE SAM, is soon to be launched from the same place.
