Capt. Mills of the RALEIGH arrived yesterday, and relieved
Capt. Stoddard as master of the CALEDONIA. It will be remembered
that the latter grounded on Lake George Flats, Sault River, while
coming down, and had to lighter about 800 tons of iron ore to
effect her release. Capt. Stoddard states that the mishap was
due to a buoy at the head of the cut being misplaced. He is a
competent and careful navigator, and a bit of bad luck will not
lose him the confidence of those who know him.
