It appears to be the turn of the ALBANY for an apology. On
the down trip the JEWETT had to give up the race which the two
were having by a mishap to her machinery, and the ALBANY passed
her. On Saturday morning the ALBANY left Buffalo at 7:30 and the
JEWETT 50 minutes later. Off Pt. Abino the ALBANY was seen to
stop and it was thought that she was waiting for her rival, but
it is now reported that she picked up a log with her wheel and
was trying to get rid of it. From the Detroit passage report it
appears that the JEWETT was nearly 3 hours ahead there, making
the run inside 18 hours.
