THE STEAMER PLANET. - This popular boat, we regret to hear, has closed her career. The accident to her machinery proves to be of a very serious nature, and Capt. Goodrich has therefore decided to lay her up and dismantle her. Her engines and boilers are to be put in thorough repair, and will be placed in the new steamer now being built at Manitowoc, which it was intended should receive the MAY QUEEN's engine. A boat will be built next fall and winter for the latter. The PLANET's cabin and upper works will also be placed upon the new boat. The hull of the PLANET is still in a very good condition, and will probably be used as a lumber barge. She has been towed into Manitowoc harbor, where she will be dismantled. - Milwaukee Sentinel.
