The H.P. CLINTON LAUNCHED. -- Yesterday afternoon a tug built at O'Conner's Ship Yard for Mr. John Quackenbush, of Black Rock, was successfully launched. Her length overall is 74 feet 6 inches, breadth of beam 16 feet, depth in hold 7 feet. Her model is remarkably fine, and she is expected to run faster than any tug afloat. Her engine and machinery, built at Shepards Works, are aboard and in working order, and the tug will be prepared for duty in a few days. She is designed to run on the Niagara River, from Black Rock to Grand Island, Tonawanda and the vicinity.
The tug was christened the "H. P. CLINTON" in honor of the Alderman of this name, who, of course, presented her with colors. If the boat proves as spirited staunch and sea-worthy as her name sake, it will be many a day before she puts in for repairs or strikes her colors.
