      The canal steamer WILLIAM BAXTER with her owner, Mr. Baxter, on board, started down the canal last evening with the purpose of reaching Syracuse about the 14th, and pass under the the review of the $100,000 State Prize Commissioners. She was loaded with wheat and grindstones by Mr. Edward Gallagher, and had on board a fraction over the required 200 tons. The canal stm. PETER COOPER arrived in port yesterday.
