The new tug JOHN HICKLER made her first appearance in the harbor yesterday afternoon. She was built expressly for Mr. John Hickler of this city, and is constructed with especial reference to running on the St. Lawrence River, her owner having a contract on one of the Canadian canals. With 8 tons of coal she draws only 4 ft. 4 inches of water. She cost about $7,000. Her engines are 14 x 16 inches.
