The American Shipbuilding Company closed a contract on Saturday with the Bessemer Dock and Navigation Company for a new car ferry steamer to come out next October. She will be built at Cleveland and will cost $350,000. She will be operated between Conneaut and Rondeau, Port Stanley and Port Dover, on the Canadian side.

      CHRISTEN NEW GUARD FERRY
Invitations have been issued by officer of the Marquette & Bessemer Dock and Navigation Company to attend the christening of the company's new steel car ferry, " MARQUETTE and BESSEMER No. 2," at the ship yards of the American Shipbuilding Company, foot of Taylor Street, Cleveland, O., on next Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. This steel car ferry has been built to replace the ferry destroyed by fire last spring.

The car ferry MARQUETTE & BESSEMER No. 2, which is building for the Marquette and Bessemer Railway Company at the Cleveland yard of the American Shipbuilding Company, will be launched tomorrow. It is calculated that she will be ready to go into commission in about 30 days, when she will be operated on Lake Erie.
