New Steamer For lake Erie - The stock holders in the new steamer now building at Chippawa for the navigation of Lake Erie will be glad to learn that the frame was completed and the planking commenced last week. On Friday last the cylinder was cast and turned out beautifully; the boilers are far advanced, almost the whole of the other castings are finished, and it is believed that the engine will be one of the best and safest ever turned out by the Dock Company. The whole work is proceeding rapidly and in a perfectly satisfactory manner. - Niagara Chronicle

The new steamer built at Chippewa by the Niagara Dock Co., was launched last week in good style and was christened the " LONDON." Miss Fanny Smyth acting as sponsor. The new vessel is pronounced by competent judges, the most beautiful model on the western waters, and no doubt is entertained but she will prove a "crack boat." Her dimensions are 170 feet length on deck, 25 feet beam, 10 foot hold, and her engine is equal to 80 horse power, the State Room will be open deck, and no expense will be spared in fitting and furnishing her. ---- Niagara Chronicle.

THE "LONDON." -- This splendid vessel, we understand, is in such forward state of preparation that no doubt is entertained of her being completely fitted and furnished, and ready in all respects to commence her trips by the beginning of March next. She is to be commanded by Capt. Van Allen, now of the EMERALD, whose knowledge of Lake Erie, and gentlemanly conduct, have won for him the confidence of the public. --- Niagara Chronicle.
