"NEWS" ARRANGES MOST DELIGHTFUL LAKE TRIPS
Sunday Excursions to Erie by Splendid Steamer "STATE OF OHIO"
Arriving Home Monday Morning, Fare Being Only $I Round Trip.
By arrangement with the Cleveland & Buffalo Transit Company, the Evening News is able to offer to its readers a lake ride to Erie and return every Sunday, beginning next Sunday, July 9, at a cost so moderate that many thousands will doubtless take advantage of the opportunity.
The steamer STATE OF OHIO, which is one of the finest on inland waters, will leave Buffalo at 8:30 every Sunday morning, arriving at Erie at 2:30 in the afternoon. This provides an 8O-mile daylight ride. The boat will leave Erie at midnight, arriving at Buffalo at 6 o'clock Monday morning. The steamer has a passenger permit for 1100 persons.
The fare for this fine outing is only $1, round trip. For children between the ages of 5 and 12 half fare is charged. An upper berth will cost 50 cents extra, lower berth $1, and a stateroom $1:50. Meals are 75 cents, with excellent dining room service.
In these days of torrid heat there is nothing so delightful and bracing as a ride on the lake. The News excursion to Erie will include a ride of 160 miles, half of it at night. The city of Erie itself offers many pleasant ways of passing the afternoon and evening with pleasure and comfort. The city is built upon an elevation, commanding an extensive view of the lake. The surrounding country is most beautiful, and there are delightful summer resorts to be reached by trolley or steamer, Waldameer, Grove House Park, Glenwood and other places offer cool retreats from the heat of the day. There is every opportunity for boating, fishing and bathing.
It behooves those who would enjoy this rare treat to make their reservations early. The popularity of former News excursions, to Cleveland and Detroit, insures a great rush for accommodations for the Erie trip.
