      DONEGAL, US.249573, Steel Tug built in 1943 by Platzer Boat Works, Houston TX (Hull #117) as a) ST 71 for the U.S. Army. 70' LOA x 20' x 8'6"; 93 GRT. Powered by a 400 bhp six cylinder, four cycle, single acting diesel engine built by Atlas imperial Diesel Engine Co., Oakland, CA. Entered service in April, 1943. Sold to Newtown Creek Towing Co., New York in 1946 and renamed b) RUSSELL 8. Purchased by McAllister Bros., Inc., New York in 1961 and renamed c) REID McALLISTER. Purchased by Gaelic Tug Co., Clawson, Ml in 1967 and renamed d) DONEGAL. Rebuilt and repowered with a 850 bhp Caterpillar diesel engine in 1973. Sold to Roen Salvage Co., Sturgeon Bay, Wl in 1985 and renamed e) JOHN R. ASHER. Currently in service.
