The faces of our citizens, which have for some time past worn a cheerless and dismal gloom, in consequence of the unpleasantness of the past month, have suddenly changed to the expression of bright and joyful expectation. This may, perhaps, be accounted for by the remarkable bustle which has prevailed in our port during the two past weeks. On Monday last, at about 1 o'clock, our noble river presented a very pleasant sight--Nine fine schooners and a variety of smaller craft, aided by a favorable wind could be seen bearing into port with all their sails set. They were from Buffalo, and the other ports on Lake Erie--and several were bound for Mackinac and Green Bay. By the arrival of the vessels at this port our Territory has received a valuable acquisition in emigrants, and we are happy in stating, that, "from all account," the current of emigration has taken the course which the wishes of our fellow citizens have long since designated.
