The schr. Appelona, W. Merritt, master, while bound up Lake Ontario, was on the 14th ult., about 10 o'clock, P.M., struck by lightning, during a heavy squall--the master and crew were knocked down, and the vessel was much shattered. when they recovered from the shock, the master and crew took to the boat, and the vessel went down in fifteen minutes after they left her. She was laden with Salt, &c., and bound from Oswego to Genesee.
