LAUNCH. -- The iron steamer which has been put up on Ohio street, for the Topographical service, was launched at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She is called the COL. ABERT, in honor of the head of the Topographical Engineer Department. She went off finely, and sits lightly upon the water, and it is estimated that she will draw but three feet, when "armed and equipped." The ABERT was put up by the Buffalo Steam Engine Works, under the superintendence of Mr. Bartol. A description of her has heretofore been given.

The iron steamer ABERT went out as far as Point Abino yesterday afternoon and returned, on an experimental trip. Her machinery works well, and her movements disturb the water but little. It is thought she will be able to make eight or nine miles an hour with ease.

The U. S. iron steamer ABERT, made an experimental trip yesterday, about eight miles up the bay. The engine worked very satisfactorily, and with so little jarring of the boat that those on board would scarcely be aware that the machinery was in operation, were it not for the effect. The average revolutions of the engine were fifty-two to the minute, and she made about twelve miles per hour. The trip was made with a view of having the steamer inspected preparatory to her being accepted by the government.
The ABERT will greatly expedite the operations of the U. S. Topographical Engineers, for which she is designed.
