The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
John B. Elwood (Canal Boat), 1 Jul 1847

Description
Full Text

We noticed an elegant finished canal boat lying in one of the slips yesterday. She bears the name of JOHN B. ELWOOD, and is of Rochester build. They turn out fine boats and fine men there. The Doctor is one of them. He has been identified with Rochester from its infancy, and is one of her ablest citizens. We believe he is now Mayor of the flourishing city, and he ought to be.
