SHIP BUILDING IN St. CLAIR COUNTY. -- On Wednesday last, the new brig whose keel was laid last Spring at Holland's two miles above this village, was moved from her ways, but before she cleared them struck a sand bar and was so firmly imbedded, that all effort for her removal proved unavailing. She remained in this position until Friday night, when she was got off, and now lays at this port, without material damage. Her strength, however, received a severe test, a heavy north wind having blown for two days, yet a timber has not sprung. She is a fine craft, 96 feet in length, 24 feet beam, 9 feet hold, and 211 tons burthen. Mr. S.G. Samson, of Detroit owns her and she bears the name of one of the 'oldest inhabitants' of that City -- " DAVID SMART ".
