The Maritime History of the Great Lakes
Saratoga (Steamboat), 1 Mar 1847

Description
Full Text

The steamboats are all receiving thorough repairs, and some, important additions.
That magnificent floating palace, the SARATOGA, will come out in more than royal splendor and Herculean strength. A new boiler has been attached, generating an additional quantity of steam equal to a third of her former supply; and the brush of the painter will venture an attempt to give the boat an improved lustre.
