Description
Full Text

A vessel of 170 tons beautifully moulded and intended for a regular packet between this city and Chicago, was launched on Saturday. She is owned by Johnston, Olmsted & Co., we believe, will be called the JAMES CHRISTIE, and will be one of the most elegant crafts on the lakes. -- Milwaukee Sentinel

NEW CLIPPER. -- We yesterday paid a visit to the clipper schooner JAMES CHRISTIE, now lying at the dock of Messrs. Johnson & Olmsted, and built by Capt. Jones for them for the freighting of merchandise, etc., between this port and Chicago. She is a beautiful craft, of splendid model and finish, and an honor to the port from which she sails. Her tall symetrical spars, rakish look and pointed prow, gives assurance that she will "walk the water like a thing of life." She goes up to the La Cross depot to take a load of pig iron to Chicago. Her capacity is about 177 tons. -- Milwaukee American.
